Shaping Your Team's Mental State

Masterclass 3 - Workbook 3

One of the hardest jobs soccer coaches face is understanding, controlling and regulating the mental state of their team. Not only can this change from day to day, game to game but it can also change within a game.

This workbook identifies four key mental states – Complacency, Confidence, Anxiety and Fear and suggests that an optimum performance state can be found that is mostly confident with a little anxiety or fear of failure.

For the coach who wants to become a little more of a psychologist this workbook should be interesting reading.
